Oba Olajide Adenuga

About Oba Adetayo Adenuga – Ayegbami 1st of Midlands, UK
A Modern Royal with Deep Roots
Oba Adetayo Adenuga, crowned Ayegbami 1st of Midlands UK, is a traditional monarch and cultural leader committed to uniting and uplifting the Yoruba people in the diaspora.
Kabiyesi’s royal roots go back to the very heart of Yoruba civilisation. He is a direct descendant of Odùduwà, the founding father of the Yoruba people. His ancestor, Oba Ojafadego, was one of Odùduwà’s sons who left Ile-Ife and became the first Oba in Ijebu-Imusin, where he founded a proud royal line. That legacy lives on through Oba Adenuga today.
Before becoming Oba, he was honoured with several chieftaincy titles for his service to community and culture:
· Otunba Ojafadego of Ijebu-Imusin
· Otunba Fadesewa of Ilaporu Ijebu
· Otunba Fibiwoga of Oke Agbo Ijebu Igbo
As a father figure in the Yoruba community here in the UK, Oba Adenuga leads with humility, kindness, and wisdom. He is passionate about teaching young people their roots and creating a future where Yoruba culture is not only remembered—but celebrated with pride.
Through events like Àṣà Wa Day, cultural workshops, and public advocacy, Kabiyesi reminds us that being Yoruba is a blessing, and that our heritage must be protected like gold.
